2014 MLS Schedule: 10 matches you do not want to miss

LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake clash

The 2014 MLS schedule is out. Which means it's time to get your highlighter or red pen or whatever digital stylus you use to mark those must-see matches in 2014.

Here are 10 that we're circling on our calendars.

LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake, Sat., March 8 – Not only is the a rematch of a hard-fought playoff series from 2013, but it's the first chance Landon Donovan has to finally set the new goalscoring record.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. New York Red Bulls, Sat., March 8 – There will be a new coach at BC Place by then, and the question everyone is wondering will be answered: Will Darren Mattocks be in the lineup

Houston Dynamo vs. Montreal Impact, Sat., March 15 – An early-season clash between two sides that mixed it up in the 2013 playoffs. No Marco Di Vaio, though: He'll still be suspended for his red card against the Dynamo in last month's Knockout Round.

Sporting KC vs. Real Salt Lake, Sat., April 5 – The two MLS Cup finalists return to the scene, Sporting Park, for an early-season rematch.

Real Salt Lake vs. Portland Timbers, Sat., April 19 – The coaches duel that took place in the Western Conference Championship gets renewed early at Rio Tinto Stadium. But will currently out-of-contract Jason Kreis even be on the RSL sideline then?

Chicago Fire vs. LA Galaxy, Sun., June 1 –  The centerpiece of the Fire attack, Mike Magee, faces off for the first time against the club that traded him away for Robbie Rogers.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Chicago Fire, Weds., July 23 – Departed Quakes coach Frank Yallop, recently hired at the helm of the Fire, returns to Northern California to face his old club and his former assistant, Mark Watson.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders, Sat., August 2 – It's become an annual tradition for the Quakes to play a big Western Conference match at a nearby mega-stadium, and in 2014, it'll be even more special: the opening event at the new Levi's Stadium, future home of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers.

Columbus Crew vs. LA Galaxy, Sat., August 16New Crew coach Gregg Berhalter squares off for the first time against his longtime mentor, Bruce Arena. What will the Black & Gold look like by then?

New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew, Sun., October 19 – Depending on club's playoff status and his contract situation, this could be Thierry Henry's swan song at Red Bull Arena.
