News of the weird: The half-Mexico, half-USMNT jersey is a real thing | SIDELINE

So it actually exists. The world is a truly crazy place.

That's the gist of the feelings relayed by Instagram user ivanespnza who found the above beauty/atrocity/masterpiece/abomination obviously fake Mexico national team jersey at a flea market in San Jose, Calif.

The creation is an ode to the events of October 15, 2013, when the US national team scored a dramatic late victory over Panama on the final day of World Cup qualifying to push Mexico one place higher in the CONCACAF standings and into a playoff place with one last chance of qualifying for Brazil.

El Tri have made very good on that opportunity presented to them by the USMNT, defeating New Zealand 5-1 in the first leg of the playoff.

We saw fan renderings floating around the Internet in the days following the game, but never thought it would come to this — seeing the thing in real life.
