Latino del Año: 2013: Jamison Olave, Felipe, Rodney Wallace, Marcelo Sarvas in a playoff-heavy Group H continues to unveil the 32 players nominated for Latino del Año 2013, where you, the fans, will select the Latin American player who had the best performance throughout the 2013 MLS regular season. Remember that you can start voting as of Monday, November 4.

Four players who will be glad to see in the Playoffs are included in Group H. Among them, two MLS Cup champions, Jamison Olave (in 2009 with Real Salt Lake) and Marcelo Sarvas. On the other hand, two young men who have impressed during this season, the Brazilian Felipe Martins and the Costa Rican Rodney Wallace. and editors selected 32 Latino players that made an impact throughout the 2013 MLS regular season, including winners of’s weekly contest, Latino de la Jornada, and a draw was held to divide the players in eight groups of four players each.

Here are the nominees from Group H:




Jámison Olave

D, NY Red Bulls

First seed in this group thanks to his wilingness to awake a team that needed a defensive mindset early in the season, and certainly found it. Olave has been a stronghold of the Red Bulls, both in the defense and in attack, scoring some goals. His determination to overcome adversity after leaving RSL was the key to finding his place in the best team of the regular season, and winning the Supporters' Shield.

Felipe Martins

M, Montreal Impact

Felipe has been one of the dominant figures in the Quebec side, and from midfield, he commands a powerful attack that featured one of the top scorers of the season in Marco Di Vaio. Felipe himself scored five goals to help his team from his position. He is one of the most valuable young players in MLS, and surely will give Impact fans much to talk about in 2014.

Rodney Wallace

M/D, Portland Timbers

Since his beginnings in professional football with D.C. United, the Costa Rican established himself as one of the best wide defenders in MLS. Bbut after the arrival of Caleb Porter this year as head coach of the Timbers, Wallace became a lethal winger, rotating between the two positions. It was his most prolific year in scoring, as he found the net seven times for the third-highest scoring team in the regular season. The tico has also been a frequent call-up calls for Jorge Luis Pinto in the national team.

Marcelo Sarvas

M, LA Galaxy

As a holding midfielder, he delivered for LA, but after the departure of David Beckham in December last year, the Brazilian became the point of reference in a solid midfield which have generated one of the most feared attacks in the league. Sarvas won MLS Cup with the Galaxy last season.

Created in 2010, Latino del Año is's annual contest to select the best Latin American Player in MLS based on fan voting.

The contest is held at the end of each MLS regular season, consisting of three weeks of voting by fans who determine which players advance to each round until a winner is chosen.
