USMNT to visit Austria in Nov. 19 friendly for final match of 2013

The US national team will waltz into Vienna to face Austria in an international friendly on Nov. 19, their final match of a sterling 2013.


The match will be the second date on a two-game European tour which opens with a game against Scotland at Glasgow's Hampden Park on Nov. 15.


The US and Austria have faced off on two previous occasions, with the Yanks having most recently earned a 3-0 victory in Vienna in a friendly in 1998.



Austria currently sit at No. 47 in the FIFA World Rankings and have been eliminated from World Cup qualifying contention as Germany and Sweden occupy the top two spots in UEFA Group C.


The nation is the homeland of USMNT assistant coach Andreas Herzog, who is the most capped player in Austrian history, and is also the current locale for USMNT forward Terrence Boyd, who plays his club soccer for Rapid Vienna.
