MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends Real Salt Lake's Abdoulie Mansally one additional game for serious foul play

Kenny Mansally

NEW YORK – The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced on Friday that Real Salt Lake defender Abdoulie Mansally has been issued a one-game suspension and fined for serious foul play in the 15th minute of an Oct. 5 match against FC Dallas. Mansally received a red card on the play, but the Committee determined that his actions endangered the safety of his opponent, FC Dallas midfielder Jackson.

Through the MLS Players Union, Mansally submitted an appeal, but the Committee’s decision was upheld. Mansally is suspended for a total of two games – one for receiving a red card and one imposed by the Committee. He will sit out the next two games he is eligible to appear, currently scheduled for Oct. 19 versus the Portland Timbers and Oct. 23 against Chivas USA.

The Committee also fined Montreal Impact midfielder Justin Mapp for simulation in the 40th minute of the game against the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 4 (VIDEO). The Committee unanimously determined that Mapp’s action was an obvious act of simulation in order to deceive the referee.

The Committee has also issued a fine to Colorado Rapids midfielder Hendry Thomas for embellishment in order to deceive the referee during stoppage time of the first half of the Oct. 5 game against Seattle Sounders FC (VIDEO).
