2013 MLS WORKS October Humanitarian of the Month -

This year, one of the most decorated players in MLS history chose to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of D.C. youth. Now in his third season with United, Dwayne De Rosario has truly embraced United for D.C. and the Kicks for Kids program.

“When approached with the opportunity to partner with United for D.C. and help bring kids from at risk areas of the city to RFK to watch us play, I was very excited to help. I was raised in a challenging environment, and I had to work extremely hard to pursue my dream. If I can impact at least one kid’s life, my mission has been accomplished,” said De Rosario.

The Black-and-Red captain has donated $10,000 to United for D.C., and through DeRo’s Stars, has brought 500 kids to games throughout the 2013 season. In addition, De Rosario personally invites groups to the field level after each game to meet his guests and sign autographs.
