American Exports: Jose Torres taken off at halftime as Tigres UANL battle to draw vs. Queretaro

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Jose Torres was taken off at halftime on Friday as Tigres UANL came from two goals down to tie Querétaro 2-2 in the Liga Bancomer MX.

Torres was substituted out by coach Ricardo Ferretti for Argentine Guido Pizarro with Tigres already 1-0 down, after playing the first 45 on the left-hand side of central midfield alongside Carlos Salcido.

The US international completed a high pass ratio and went close to opening the scoring in the 17th minute when he hit a right foot shot from outside the area that slid wide of the left-hand post.

Torres sent another effort wide in the 40th as Tigres – for whom Jonathan Bornstein didn’t suit up – moved temporarily to ninth in the league table.

The game at Estadio Corregidora was Torres’ ninth start in Tigres’ 11 games so far in the Apertura championship.
