U.S. Soccer on Tuesday announced a 20-name roster picked by head coach Richie Williams (above) for a US Under-17 national team trip to Spain that includes friendlies against the academy sides of Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
Seven of the 20 players selected come from MLS academies, including a pair each from the LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls. Chivas USA, FC Dallas and San Jose also are represented by a player each.
Williams' squad leaves for Spain on Wednesday and will train four days before taking on Real Madrid Academy on Sept. 30. They will then play a game against an undetermined opponent on Oct. 2 before taking on Rayo Vallecano Academy on Oct. 4.
This is the first wave of play with the current roster in preparation for the 2015 CONCACAF U-17 Championship.
