Greg Garza celebrates a goal for Club Tijuana

American Exports: Greg Garza set to start for Club Tijuana; Jose Torres & Tigres host Chivas

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The Liga MX rolls on this weekend for those Americans that didn’t get the call-up to the national team squad.

At Club Tijuana, Greg Garza (above) is set to start his fourth game of the Apertura season against Veracruz on Saturday, with regular left back Edgar Castillo away with the USMNT (10:30 pm ET, Azteca America).

Garza is unlikely to be the only American involved, with Paul Arriola looking for his second consecutive league start and Joe Corona also in the frame. Herculez Gomez is still recovering from his knee issue and this weekend’s match likely comes too soon.

Earlier Saturday, Jose Torres and Tigres UANL face an important game against CD Guadalajara at Estadio Universitario, with pressure mounting on the squad and coach Ricardo Ferretti following an indifferent start to the season (8 pm ET, Univision Deportes).

US Under-20 striker Alonso Hernandez has a strong chance of minutes for Monterrey on Saturday at Estadio Azteca against Club América, with injury problems and national team call-ups hampering Los Rayados (6 pm ET, Univision).

In Brazil, Freddy Adu’s Bahia play at Fluminense (Saturday, 5 pm ET), although the forward was left out of the squad in Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to Cruzeiro.

Further north in Costa Rica, FC Dallas loanee Moises Hernandez and league leaders Saprissa face off against Puntarenas on Sunday (1 pm ET).
