Whitecaps execute well-played, smooth Twitter dig on NHL's Vancouver Canucks | SIDELINE

Whitecaps fans celebrate at BC Place.

There's not a single user of the social media network Twitter that doesn't enjoy a smooth, well-played Twitter ribbing every now and then. It doesn't matter whether it's two players on your favorite team trash talking about their latest go-rounds in FIFA 13, or one of the professional sports teams in your city poking and prodding their local counterpart.

It's always good for a quick laugh at someone's expense, especially when the person or organization on the receiving end set themselves up for side jab quite perfectly. And that's exactly the state in which the NHL's Canucks left themselves for their next door neighbors, the Vancouver Whitecaps.

OK, that's cool, Canucks. "Here's our really big, loud arena speaker system." But the noise is supposed to come from the fans in the stands, ya know? Enter: our friends, the Whitecaps.

Fear not, though, everybody hugged and made up with lots of BC love in the end.

Don't go soft on us now, Whitecaps. Tell them you hate them and that hockey will never foster a game day atmosphere like soccer and that hockey will never really catch on in your country. That's bound to anger all the rest of Canada.
