Obafemi Martins

Seattle Sounders Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins has obviously made an impression on the faithful at CenturyLink Field, with his goals, his flip celebrations, and his constant smile.

But long before he arrived in the Pacific Northwest, he made an impression on a young boy abandoned by the ugly side of the global soccer business.

Machael David was a 14-year-old soccer talent when he was brought from Nigeria to Italy supposedly for a trial. But the trial never materialized. David had been swindled and was now adrift on the streets of Milan.

At the time, Martins was playing for Serie A powerhouse Inter, and he knew he had to do something.
