American Exports: Jose Torres, Tigres set to contest Clasico Regio centennial match vs. Monterrey

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – There’s no doubt about the biggest game in Mexico this weekend, and Tigres UANL’s Texan midfielder Jose Torres is set to play a central role.

Torres and his side take on Monterrey in the 100th edition of the Clásico Regio – a game that has the northern Mexican city gripped (Sat, 8 pm ET, UniMas).

For Los Rayados, young forward Alonso Hernandez will also be hoping to get minutes and make an impact.

On Friday evening, Club Tijuana take on Pumas UNAM in the border city with Edgar Castillo, Greg Garza, Paul Arriola and Joe Corona all available (10:30 pm ET, Azteca America, ESPN Deportes). The obvious omission is Herculez Gomez, who is yet to return from a knee injury.

For Gomez’s old club Puebla, DaMarcus Beasley and Michael Orozco Fiscal are available as the club looks for its first victory of the season against Veracruz.

In the second division, Marco Vidal’s Lobos BUAP travel to play Estudiantes Tecos (Fri, 8:30 pm ET), while Jesus Padilla and Dorados de Sinaloa host Delfines del Carmen (Sat, 9 pm ET).

In Central America, Jeffrey Payeras and Municipal face Xelajú on Sunday (2 pm ET), while Moises Hernandez and Saprissa get their season in Costa Rica underway with a game against Pérez Zeledón (Sunday, 1 pm ET).

In Brazil's top division, Freddy Adu and Bahia are in action Sunday against Gremio (5:30 pm ET).
