Festival season is almost over. Did you manage to get to any?
Rogers:
I never have time to go to any festivals, unfortunately. But if I could go to one, I’d go to Coachella with a good group of friends.

What was the most recent concert you went to?
Rogers:
It was a
Bastille
show at the Shoreditch House in East London back in February. They were playing a secret warm-up show.
MLSsoccer.com:
Who is most responsible for influencing your musical tastes?
Rogers:
Actually, my surroundings rather than people have shaped my musical tastes. For example, when I was living in London I listened to lots of Bastille and
Ben Howard
. And when I was in Columbus I listened to
Bon Iver
and
City and Colour
, too, both of which are more chill and similar to the setting of the city.

Is there a particular track that provokes a powerful memory from your childhood?
Rogers:
For every country or city that I’ve lived in, and for every meaningful moment in my life, I have a song that reminds me of the place and period. There are too many to name.

Rogers:
The first album I ever bought was Sublime’s
40oz. to Freedom
. I didn’t tell my mom.

Rogers:
My favorite band of all time is probably…

Rogers:
I just bought the

album. I like them a lot.

Any music you’re embarrassed to admit holds a place in your iTunes library?
Rogers:
The most embarrassing songs on my computer? Hmm, there’s maybe a little
Justin Bieber
in there. I’m not a big fan though.

In another life, one where you're not a professional soccer player, but a rock star, are you: a) the strutting lead singer, b) the crazy drummer, c) the moody bass player, d) the party-animal lead guitarist or e) the geeky keyboardist?
Rogers: I am definitely the geeky keyboardist. I’ll be rocking the cool vintage shades at all times.
MLSsoccer.com: Which musicians, dead or alive, would you have over for a fantasy dinner party and why?
Rogers: I would have Freddie Mercury over for a little barbecue … one where everyone had to rock dirty moustaches.
MLSsoccer.com: If the MLS Cup final had a halftime show like the Super Bowl, which artist would you like to see perform?
Rogers: I’d like to see Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z perform their little duet. But I’d be in the locker room at halftime so I’d miss it! [Laughs]
MLSsoccer.com: Finally, which song should be used in a montage of your game? (In other words: What’s your Rocky theme tune?)
Rogers: Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” would be my tune! [Laughs]
