Castrol Index Weekly Top 20: Seattle Sounders' Lamar Neagle takes charge in Week 22

Evans and Neagle - Castrol

Scoring was back in MLS Week 22, and the Castrol Index Weekly rankings reflect that.

Seattle Sounders midfielder/forward Lamar Neagle notched the game-winning goal for his team on Sunday against Chivas USA, and earned top marks in the Castrol Index Weekly Top 20 as a result of his performance. After the Sounders went down early, Brad Evans tied the game before Neagle put the hosts ahead for good.

Following Neagle in the Top 5 were two other scorers, New York's Fabián Espíndola (No. 2), who had a pair of goals, and Real Salt Lake's Álvaro Saborío (No. 3), who had a hat trick, in a wild 4-3 win by the Red Bulls over RSL Saturday. Saborío also won MLS Player of the Week honors for his performance in that game.

Espindola's Red Bulls teammate Tim Cahill came in at No. 4 in the rankings, while Colorado Rapids midfielder Hendry Thomas (No. 5) played the unlikely hero in his team's 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy.
