American Exports: Gold Cup winner Michael Orozco Fiscal inks new Puebla deal

Michael Orozco Fiscal throws in

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Fresh from lifting the Gold Cup with the United States, defender Michael Orozco Fiscal officially signed a new contract with Puebla on Tuesday.

“I want to succeed here,” 27-year-old Orozco Fiscal told Puebla’s website. “We want to make the make the playoffs; this city deserves it.”

Puebla announced at the Liga MX draft in early June that Orozco Fiscal would be staying on at the club, but there had been some speculation that contract talks between Orozco Fiscal and Puebla weren’t going smoothly.

Orozco Fiscal also talked about the Gold Cup win and what it meant to him.

“It was a big step in my career to be champion,” said the former Philadelphia Union player. “I demonstrated that I am ready to play at the World Cup if Jurgen [Klinsmann] needs.”

Fellow American DaMarcus Beasley also returned to Puebla following the Gold Cup and both could be available for Wednesday’s Liga MX match against Santos Laguna (9 pm ET, Azteca America).
