Jozy Altidore goes after a loose ball

AMSTERDAM – The sale of US striker Jozy Altidore from AZ Alkmaar to Premier League side Sunderland has been completed, a development first revealed by the Eredivisie club then confirmed by the EPL side's official website.

Sources indicated to MLSsoccer.com that the transfer fee ended up around 10 million euros ($12.6 million), while Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl is reporting a slightly higher figure of $13 million.

Having signed a four-year deal with the Black Cats, Altidore will join his new teammates at their preseason camp in Italy. The striker should get his first chance to don a Sunderland shirt when they tackle Clint Dempsey's Tottenham in the July 24 opener of the Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.
