NBC Sports Network to air second edition of "MLS Breakaway" whiparound show on August 3

NEW YORK – MLS and NBC Sports Group on Monday announced the second edition of MLS Breakaway, which will air Saturday, August 3, at 9 pm ET on NBC Sports Network.

NBC Sports Network’s Aug. 3 soccer coverage begins at 6:30 pm ET with the Sporting Kansas City-New York Red Bulls match, followed by the unique NBC Sports Group presentation MLS Breakaway (9-10:30 pm ET), a special 90-minute “whip-around” show featuring multiple live look-ins to regional broadcasts of four games being played at that time.

MLS and NBC Sports Group collaborated to adjust the start times of several games to create this opportunity for fans. The updated schedule of related games is below.

NBC Sports Group’s new lead MLS play-by-play voice John Strong and analyst Kyle Martino will host MLS Breakaway coverage from NBC Sports Groups’ International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn.

“I’m excited to be a part of the next edition of MLS Breakaway,” Strong said. “I really enjoyed watching the first show in March and its high-energy, ‘center of the soccer universe’ feel as they whipped around from game to game.”

Added Martino: “Get ready for another MLS Breakaway. Everyone had such a blast the first time around we decided to run it back. With the help of comments and suggestions from fans, we are building off the first show to try and capture all the MLS weekend excitement in the most creative ways possible. See you then!”
