Rumors of the LA Galaxy's pursuit of Mexican international Giovani dos Santos will not go away these early summer days — just two weeks before Major League Soccer's summer transfer window opens — and the plot has thickened, according to Marca.
In a Tuesday report, the Spanish sports daily claims the Galaxy made an 8 million euro transfer bid to dos Santos' current club, Mallorca, and a 2 million euro per year salary offer to the 24-year-old, both of which dos Santos reportedly rejected.
Marca also reports that the Galaxy aren't the only club after Gio this summer. Valencia are said to have made a bid for him that was significantly lower than the Galaxy's offer, thus was rejected by Mallorca.
Finally, the report says a "war" for dos Santos' signature could ensue between the Galaxy and Valencia. Either way, war or no war, this doesn't feel like a story that's going to go away anytime soon, nor should it.
The Galaxy declined to comment on Tuesday when contacted by MLSsoccer.com.
What do you think? Gio is obviously a huge — and expensive — signing, but is he what the Galaxy need for a run at back-to-back-to-back MLS Cups?
