SEATTLE – DaMarcus Beasley’s not sure how his up-in-the-air club situation will shake out, but he is sure of one thing: Given a choice, he’d rather not move again.
That’s what the three-time World Cup veteran admitted to MLSsoccer.com after the US national team’s 2-0 victory over Panama on Tuesday.
Beasley was transfer-listed by Puebla FC last week but was not sold. That means he either must agree to a new deal with the Liga MX side or must leave Mexico entirely to continue his 15-year professional career.
“I would like to stay,” the versatile winger/defender said. “But we’ll see.”

Puebla’s president tweeted on Sunday that there is a 50 percent chance the club will re-sign the 31-year-old, who has called Puebla home for the past two years after leaving Bundesliga club Hannover. But recent reports out of Mexico indicate La Franja are lining up other possibilities in case they cannot retain him as Beasley is reporting looking to double his salary.
Beasley declined to comment further on the status of his negotiations, but did say the situation would be resolved “in the next couple weeks.”
The former Chicago Fire star will miss the USMNT’s World Cup qualifier against Honduras next week in Salt Lake City due to card accumulation, snapping a streak of six straight starts at left back for Jurgen Klinsmann’s side.
