American Exports: Alejandro Bedoya stays hot, grabs goal and assist in for Helsingborg

Alejandro Bedoya with Helsingborg

AMSTERDAM – Helsingborg playmaker Alejandro Bedoya continued his torrid early season form on Saturday, notching a goal and an assist in a 3-1 home win over Åtvidaberg.

The US international opened the scoring in the 15th minute, exploiting space granted to fire home lefty from the top of the area. After drawing a late yellow card, Bedoya set up the Reds' 86th-minute capper for Christoffer Andersson.

Bedoya now has four goals and four assists in the first 10 games of the season, in addition to a pair of Svenska Cupen goals. With their seventh victory from an eight-game unbeaten run, Helsingborg pulled four points clear at the Allsvenskan summit.

Meanwhile, in La Liga, Oguchi Onyewu went unused as Málaga closed the season with a 4-1 loss at champs Barcelona. The Anchovies finished sixth despite winning just once in their last five.
