American Exports: Clint Dempsey's agent dismisses rumors of Tottenham shopping USMNT captain

Clint Dempsey celebrates his goal vs. Basel

AMSTERDAM – The agent for Clint Dempsey has poured ice cold water on a recent UK tabloid report saying that Tottenham was looking to offload the US star this summer.

Ten days ago, The Mirror suggested that Spurs were open to offers for the 30-year-old Texan, who has two seasons left on his contract. Dempsey's rep, however, says this claim could not be further from the truth.

"It's inaccurate," Lyle Yorks told MLSsoccer.com on Thursday. "Tottenham are very happy with Clint and he is very happy with them. There's no truth to the [the report]."

After arriving from crosstown rivals Fulham last summer, Dempsey logged 12 goals and seven assists in 43 contests across all competitions this past term. Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League, just two points shy from their openly stated goal of earning a UEFA Champions League berth.
