MONTREAL - Matteo Ferrari made up for a first-half own goal with a game-winning strike in stoppage time, and the Montreal Impact rallied from a one-goal deficit twice on Saturday to top visiting Real Salt Lake at Stade Saputo.

Felipe and Marco Di Vaio each added a goal for the Impact (6-2-2), who rebounded from a midweek loss to the New York Red Bulls despite falling behind after Ferrari’s early miscue and again when RSL’s Kyle Beckerman scored to put Real Salt Lake up 2-1 in the 77^th minute.

But then Di Vaio followed with a goal in the 80^th minute to set the stage for Ferrari, who was in the right place at the right time for the Impact on a 93^rd-minute corner kick from rookie Blake Smith. The ball skipped through the RSL penalty box to a wide open Ferrari, who blasted a right-footed volley past RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando for his first career MLS goal.

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for RSL (5-5-2), who won at New England on Wednesday. The goal was Beckerman’s first of the season, and defender Lovell Palmer set up the first tally of the game in the 6^th minute with a blast from well outside the box that took a nasty deflection off Ferrari and caught Impact goalkeeper Troy Perkins off guard.

Montreal right back Jeb Brovsky created the equalizer in the 39th. He slipped as he passed the ball, but still reached Justin Mapp on the right flank. The in-form winger crossed low for Felipe, who slid and beat defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe to the ball before hooking it in.

RSL started the second half strong and got their reward when a corner kick from Javier Morales skipped off teammate Watson-Siriboe and right to Beckerman, who coolly put it past Perkins.

Montreal leveled just three minutes later on the sixth goal of the season from Di Vaio, who walked a fine line to stay onside and finish a chance created with a clever combination between defender Maxim Tissot and forward Andrew Wenger.

RSL are on the road again next Sunday, as they travel to the West Coast to face Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center. Montreal will host the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship next Wednesday against the Vancouver Whitecaps. They will then enjoy a rest before their next MLS outing, at home to the Philadelphia Union on May 25.
