The US international ran hot and cold over his 84 minutes, but managed to draw three saves out of the away netminder. The loss ensured that Helsingborg will not have European soccer come fall.

After the match, Bedoya made a few Swedish headlines when he slammed the victors' negative tactics.

"It was obviously not our best game – they made it difficult for us with their anti-football," he told reporters. "I'd rather stop playing football and sit at home playing FIFA [the video game] than playing in a team that plays football like that. But they did what they were supposed to, so they go home with a victory."

Over in Israel's championship hexagonal, Bryan Gerzicich saw yellow as defending champions Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona lost all hope of a repeat in dropping a 3-1 home decision to runaway leaders Maccabi Tel Aviv. The hosts slipped to 22 points off the top with just seven matches remaining, while also drifting seven points shy of the last Europa league berth.
