Report: Knee injury puts Alvaro Saborio in doubt for US-Costa Rica clash

Alvaro Saborio with Costa Rican national team

The US national team may have just caught a break ahead of Friday's CONCACAF World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica (10 pm ET, ESPN/UniMas).

The Ticos' captain, Real Salt Lake forward Álvaro Saborío, reportedly took a knock to his left knee and Deportes Repretel says that Costa Rica manager Jorge Luis Pinto "confirms that he's doubtful to start against the USA on Friday."

Saborío has one goal and one assist against the US in four all-time matches -- all starts. Costa Rica have an undefeated 3-0-1 record in those games.

Updated: An RSL spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that Saborio picked up a bruise on his left knee, but should be able to feature in Friday's game.
