MLS Fantasy Soccer: Manager was all the buzz this weekend as we kicked off the first round of the 2013 season (even Columbus Crew broadcaster Dwight Burgess got in on the action on Saturday). The games were action-packed and the competition didn’t disappoint, either.
Mike Magee (18 points) put on a show in LA, scoring a hatrick in his team's 4-0 win over the Chicago Fire. Seven of the 10 field players on the Dream Team found the back of the net, while four added an assist. The Galaxy showed us that they can be just as dominant without Landon Donovan, adding the most players (4) to this week's Dream Team. Here’s the breakdown on the winning formation.
Dream Team formation (4-3-3)
Former Real Salt Lake teammates sit atop this group of forwards – one scored two first half goals and the other, two second half goals. LA Galaxy Designated Player, Robbie Keane, lived up to the hype as the second-most selected forward (33 percent) in FS:M with his 11-point tally.
Sporting KC playmaker Graham Zusi (owned by 32 percent) also lived up to the hype, notching one goal, one assist and four bonus points in his team's 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union. He was slightly outshined however, as top honors go to Mike Magee (owned by 8 percent) who led all scorers with 18 points.
Columbus Crew right back Josh Williams had a great goal against Chivas USA and currently leads all defenders in points, with 14. Two Galaxy defenders notched assists while Chris Schuler – owned by just 2 percent of all players – went to San Jose and played lights out in his starting role for Real Salt Lake.
Goalkeeper – Troy Perkins (Montreal Impact)
Went on the road to Seattle and came away with a clean sheet to top it off.
And kudos to Taylor Murdoch (Goppingen’s Choppa), who put up a top score of 110 points and takes the overall lead in the entire game going into Round 2.
