American Exports: Dempsey expected to miss 1-2 weeks with calf strain

Clint Dempsey in action for Spurs

AMSTERDAM – Tottenham Hotspur attacker Clint Dempsey is expected to miss another week or two after sitting out Monday's win at West Ham United with a calf knock.

The US star will miss Sunday's derby visit from Arsenal, if not also next week's Europa League round-of-16 home opener against Inter Milan and EPL trip to face Liverpool.

"He has a calf strain, so I think he will be out maybe one week or two weeks," Spurs manager André Villas-Boas told reporters after the game.

If the boss' timetable proves accurate, Dempsey should be back in business when the US national teams resumes final round CONCACAF World Cup qualifying against Costa Rica in Commerce City, Colo., on March 22.
