AMSTERDAM – A pair of US stars clocked in for club duty on Wednesday, with Tim Howard backstopping Everton to a 2-1 Premier League victory over visiting West Bromwich Albion.

The netminder needed just one save to run his unbeaten streak to six games. The win lifted Everton back into fifth place, three points shy of the EPL's last Champions League slot.

Around the league, Clint Dempsey worked a quiet 71-minute shift in Tottenham Hotspur's 1-1 rally draw at Norwich City. With Brad Friedel serving as backup 'keeper, fourth place Spurs extended their EPL unbeaten run to seven games thanks to a late Gareth Bale strike.

In Belgium, Sacha Kljestan missed out on Anderlecht's 1-0 win over Genk in the first leg of the Belgian Cup semifinals due to yellow-card accumulation.
