US U-20s to face Panama ahead of CONCACAF Champ.

Tab Ramos, US U-20 national team coach

The US Under-20 men’s national team will face Panama in two matches in Mexico later this month ahead of the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, US Soccer announced on Tuesday.

The team will hold a week-long foreign training camp from Jan. 14-22 in Puebla, Mexico, and will play Panama on Jan. 19 and 21, but the time and location for the matches have yet to be determined. Head coach Tab Ramos (above) will name a roster at a later date.

Puebla is the site of the upcoming 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which will be held Feb. 18 to March 3. In November, the Americans were drawn into Group A of the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship alongside Costa Rica and Haiti.

The US will play all of their group matches at Estadio Olímpico CU in Puebla. In the group stage, each team will play the other teams once, with the top two teams from each of the four groups advancing to the quarterfinals to be played Feb. 26 and 27. The semifinals are scheduled for March 1, with the final and third-place game slated for March 3. All four semifinalists qualify for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup from June 21 to July 13 in Turkey.
