Fret not, Montreal Impact fans: Forward Marco Di Vaio isn't going anywhere.
News reports in Italy on Friday indicated that Di Vaio, who joined Montreal for their inaugural MLS season in 2012, could be on the way back to his homeland. The reports claimed he was a potential target for Pescara, who have the least potent attack in the Italian top flight and sit just two points above the relegation zone.
But late Friday morning, Impact owner Joey Saputo took to Twitter to quash the rumor.
It is nice to see that there is interest for @divaio9 in Italy, but I call guarantee our fans that he will be wearing his #9 in Mtl this yr.— Joey Saputo (@JoeySaputo) December 28, 2012
