American Exports Preview: Dempsey, Cameron clash in EPL

Clint Dempsey

AMSTERDAM – Though some European leagues have already been tucked in for winter hibernation, the weekend card still includes AS Roma's Michael Bradley playing host to boyhood favorites AC Milan.

All times listed in ET.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
Geoff Cameron, Maurice Edu (Stoke), Clint Dempsey, Brad Friedel (Spurs) – Tottenham vs. Stoke City (Saturday, 10 am on Fox Soccer Plus)

Cameron and Dempsey will start for their respective sides, but the other two Americans will almost certainly be spectators at the start. Both clubs are running fairly these days; Spurs have won four of five EPL games and Stoke are unbeaten in seven. The Potters lead the all-time series by one win, but they've lost 22 of 30 at White Hart Lane.

Brad Guzan, Eric Lichaj – Aston Villa at Chelsea (Sunday, 11 am on Fox Soccer)

Both Villans should retain their places for the trip to Stamford Bridge. Guzan backstopped a 3-1 win there last December, and the team posted three draws from the five visits before that. Lichaj also scored his first EPL goal against the Blues last season. Another good omen for Villa? The home team as not come out ahead in any of the past five meetings between these clubs.

Tim Howard (EVE), Sebastian Lletget (WHU) – West Ham United vs. Everton (Saturday, 10 am on Fox Soccer 2Go)

The Toffees netminder will try to shake off another blown lead last weekend. Howard is winless in his last six road tilts, but five of them were draws. The US No. 1 has not registered a shutout since September, but he does enjoy facing the Hammers. West Ham has not defeated the American in their last nine tries, and he's posted four wins and a draw in his past five at Upton Park.

ITALIAN SERIE A

Michael Bradley – AS Roma vs. AC Milan (Saturday, 2:45 p.m. on RAI)

Fresh off having their win streak snapped at Chievo, the Giallorossi must brush themselves off to ready for Milan's invasion. Likely starter Bradley will try to break a personal duck against his favorite club growing up, having lost to them twice last season. The visitors tend to make themselves comfy at Stadio Olimpico, where they have a five-match unbeaten run to wager.
