FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England goalkeeper Matt Reis is still not sure whether his 10-year spell with the Revolution will continue into 2013.
The 37-year-old veteran lost his starting spot to Bobby Shuttleworth for the final five games of the campaign and saw his status for next season placed into doubt as part of that decision. He must now wait to see whether the club will exercise an option on his contract to retain him automatically for next season, offer him revised terms or place him into the re-entry process.

Reis said he has attempted to learn more about his future with the club over the past few weeks without success. New England, as a matter of practice, usually discuss contractual decisions at an end-of-season meeting between the player, Revolution coach Jay Heaps and Revolution general manager Michael Burns. Those meetings are scheduled for Friday morning, according to Reis.
Although he will have to wait until that point to learn more about his future, Reis said he wants to return to the club for another season.
“Sure,” Reis told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday. “I think I've done a lot in the past 10 years. I don't by any means feel like I'm done. I feel like I'm just as sharp as I've been this year, even before my injuries. I've been available for every game. There was a question as to whether I was fit enough. I've been out there every day and been ready to go if they needed me. I don't know what else you can really ask for. And that's all I can do.”
The time for doing is just about over with New England poised wrap up their after-season training regimen on Thursday. The outcome, at least for now, is outside of Reis' control. Now he just has to wait for the verdict and the repercussions that will inevitably follow.
“It seems to be [out of my control],” Reis said. “I'd like to think I have a little control over my life, but it's a wait and see. We'll go from there.”
