American Exports: Kljestan, Anderlecht fall to Malaga in CL

Sacha Kljestan with Anderlecht

AMSTERDAM – Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht suffered a rough night at the office on Wednesday, dropping a 3-0 decision to Champions League visitors Málaga.

The former Chivas USA man entered as a halftime sub with his side down one and struggling. Kljestan twice threatened to score in the period, but also facilitated Eliseu's 63rdminute capper with a bad giveaway.

The Mauves stayed in third place ahead of a Matchday 3 trip to Group C basement side Zenit St. Petersburg. Málaga, who did not dress Oguchi Onyewu, are perfect on the summit with AC Milan headed to town on October 24.

Elsewhere, Jermaine Jones missed out with an ankle knock as Schalke settled for a 2-2 home draw with Montpellier. The Miners stand second through two Group B matches, two points behind Oct. 24 hosts Arsenal.
