Johnson's brace leads to second Player of the Week

Eddie Johnson celebrates his goal vs. Chivas USA

Just because most of MLS took a break last week doesn’t mean Eddie Johnson had to stop scoring.

The Seattle forward’s two goals were just enough to lead the Sounders past Chivas USA in the lone game on the schedule on Saturday, and comfortably lift him to the top of the North American Soccer Reporters’ vote as the Player of the Week for Week 27 (see how the media voted here).

Johnson scored in the 28th minute to pull the Sounders out an early 1-0 hole and then again in the 89th minute, nodding home a Fredy Montero cross that lifted Seattle above Real Salt Lake and into second place in the Western Conference standings.

Johnson also set the single-season franchise mark for the Sounders with the two tallies, bringing him to 13 goals in 19 appearances this season.

He also won the award in Week 22.
