Ex-All-Star Toja signs MLS deal, to be assigned via allocation

One of the most famous mullets in MLS history is making a grand return.


MLS on Thursday night confirmed that ex-MLS All-Star Juan Toja has signed a league contract and will return to the league via the allocation process. His new team will be revealed next week.

Toja, 27, played for FC Dallas in 2007 and 2008, earning a nod to the MLS All-Star Game in both seasons. He scored a total of eight goals in his 43 league appearances for FC Dallas.

The Colombian departed Dallas midway through the 2008 season, transferring to Romanian powerhouse Steaua Bucharest. In 2010, he moved to Greek Super League side Aris Thessaloniki (pictured right), a club which has acquired several former MLS players in recent years.


The New England Revolution currently sit atop the allocation order and will have the first option to acquire Toja. Whichever team selects the Colombian will then drop to the bottom of the allocation rankings which look like this:
