AMSTERDAM – Three Americans suited up under Friday night lights across the pond, with Charles Kazlauskas scoring the opener in Helmond Sport's 2-1 season-opening win at Telstar.

Just past intermission, the right midfielder broke in alone to slot his third goal in four Jupiler League games dating back to last season. The visitors eventually required a spot kick conversion from Emrullah Güvenç near time to steal the points.

In Norway, Chad Barrett (above) worked a solid 77-minute shift as lone striker in Vålerenga's 3-1 defeat of guests Odd Grenland. The Pride of Oslo snapped a five-game winless slide at home to climb level on points with fourth place.

Nearby in Sweden, Brian Span went unused as Djurgården remained unbeaten since April with a 1-0 victory at Gefle.
