Hey Wondo, take a back seat.
It's probably a sign of how well things are going for the San Jose Earthquakes that a player not named Chris Wondolowski, Steven Lenhart or Alan Gordon earns some major recognition.
English midfielder Simon Dawkins was the top performer of the week in MLS, finishing No. 1 in the weekly Top 20 Castrol Rankings. The 24-year-old Tottenham Hotspur product led the onslaught on the visiting Chicago Fire with a game-high seven shots in a 1-1 draw at Buck Shaw Stadium last weekend.
If Dawkins' presence in the top spot came as a surprise, No. 2 finisher Drew Moor of the Colorado Rapids will also raise an eyebrow, although his goal in a 2-1 loss to Seattle boosted him here.
Player of the Week Jairo Arrieta of the Columbus Crew came in at No. 3, while Portland DP Kris Boyd, despite failing to score in a 1-0 blanking at the hands of Chivas USA, did enough throughout the match to earn a No. 4 ranking.
But it was the week of goalkeepers in Week 21, with five netminders making the Top 20, including Chivas USA's Dan Kennedy and the Columbus Crew's Andy Gruenebaum at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.
Meanwhile, the only field player to repeat two weeks in a row? Houston's Calen Carr, who has been a productive addition to the Dynamo lineup. He finished No. 4 last week and after another goal, this time vs. Toronto FC, he clocks in at No. 9.
