American Exports: Goodson, Brondby snap losing spell

Clarence Goodson with Brondby

BASEL, Switzerland — Clarence Goodson saw yellow for a penalty foul on Monday, but Brøndby held on to post their first win of the young Danish season with a 2-1 decision over visiting Silkeborg.

With the hosts up thanks to a pair of early goals, Goodson was booked for dumping Marvin Pourie in the area five minutes before intermission. Christian Holst promptly converted to slice the Brøndby lead in half, but the captain and his teammates were able to maintain the slim advantage to snap a six-game league losing streak dating back to last season.

The win lifted the Lads from the Western Outskirts out of the basement up to ninth place through three Superliga matches.
