WFC: Real Madrid travel to USA

The stars are descending upon Hollywood.

Real Madrid and their star-studded cast flew into Los Angeles on Saturday as they get set for four matches in the 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge.

José Mourinho’s men will set up camp in Southern California with their first two matches against MLS champions LA Galaxy at The Home Depot Center (Aug. 2) and Mexican champs Santos Laguna in Las Vegas (Aug. 5).

The La Liga title holders then shift to the East coast for matches against AC Milan at Yankee Stadium (Aug. 8) and Celtic (Aug. 11).

Real Madrid won’t waste any time getting down to business with their first practice scheduled for Sunday morning at UCLA’s Drake Stadium followed by a press conference at the university.

All the big names have traveled with the exception of Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho, who reports in Spain indicate is on his way out of the club.

Meanwhile, Brazilian attacker Kaká, who has been connected with moves to the New York Red Bulls and AC Milan, will be making the trip.

The squad is headlined by Cristiano Ronaldo and the core of Spanish internationals including goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Also on the roster are academy players Jesús, Nacho, Jesé and Álex.

German internationals Mesut Özil and Sami Khedira are not on the same plane, however. They join the club in Los Angeles.
