NEW YORK – The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee on Friday suspended Montreal Impact midfielder Patrice Bernier for one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for his reckless challenge that endangered the safety of his opponent, Toronto FC forward Ryan Johnson.

Bernier’s action occurred in the 94th minute of the June 27 match between the clubs. Bernier will serve his suspension this Saturday when the Impact travel to play D.C. United at RFK Stadium.

Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.
