All-Star: MLS to announce Nowak's replacement soon

philadelphia union head coach peter nowak has called for fight

NEW YORK – Major League Soccer is expected to announce a replacement for the MLS All-Star team head coach in the near future to replace deposed Philadelphia Union boss Peter Nowak.

Nowak and the Union parted ways on Wednesday after a rough start to the 2012 season for the club, meaning that the former MLS great will not coach the All-Stars against Chelsea on July 25 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa.

“As we only just became aware of the Philadelphia Union coaching change, we will take the appropriate time to consider who should lead the MLS All-Stars against UEFA Champions Chelsea FC on July 25 at PPL Park,” said Nelson Rodriguez, the executive vice president of competition and game operations.

Nowak was the head coach of the All-Stars the first time they played Chelsea in 2006, when the All-Stars won the match 1-0 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill.
