WFC: Montreal's Olympic Stadium to host Juventus vs. PSG

Juventus vs. PSG

And then there were 10.

That’s the total of matches in this summer’s 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge after it was announced on Monday that Juventus will be facing Paris Saint-Germain on July 31 at Olympic Stadium in Montreal (8 pm ET).

It will be a clash of two of Europe’s giants and it is sure to be a heavily anticipated match-up in the city of Montreal, where French and Italian are the two of the largest ethnicities.

Tickets will be made available first to Montreal Impact season ticket holders on Thursday, June 14. A day later the match goes on sale to the general publc via Ticketmaster.

While Juventus have experienced a resurgence atop Italian soccer, winning the latest Serie A title, Paris Saint-Germain are one of Europe’s rising powers. Since being taken over by Qatar Sport Investment (QSI), PSG have been one of the heaviest spenders. Their star-studded squad, led by former Juventus coach Carlo Ancelotti, finished second in France’s Ligue 1 just three points behind surprise outfit Montpellier.

It’s the third WFC match-up scheduled for Juventus. They open against MLS side D.C. United at RFK Stadium on July 28 (6 pm ET) before heading to Montreal and then closing out their US tour in Las Vegas against Spain’s La Liga champs Real Madrid.

PSG will take part in the first-ever soccer match at the new Yankee Stadium in New York City vs. European champions Chelsea (July 22, 7 pm ET) before making the trek to Montreal.

Meanwhile, Canada gets its second taste of WFC action in 2012. Toronto FC will also host Liverpool on July 21 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
