Recap: Camargo nets late goal, Houston tie Revolution 2-2

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Houston midfielder Luiz Camargo scored his first MLS goal in the 87th minute to lift the Dynamo a 2-2 draw with New England at Gillette Stadium on Saturday night.

Camargo's deft one-two with Brian Ching and his tidy finish salvaged a point for the visitors. It looked like Saër Sène's double either side of a Will Bruin header would give the Revs all three points, but the Brazilian's late intervention ensured each team walked away with a share of the spoils.

The late goal capped off the Dynamo's stretch of four games in 11 days with a deserved point, while the Revs registered their first draw of the season with another dose of late heartbreak.

FULL LINEUPS AND BOX SCORE

Houston enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges, but the match truly sprung to life after 25 minutes when referee Baldomero Toledo handed the Revs a chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot.

Brad Davis gave Toledo little choice after he clattered into Sène in the area as the duo rushed out to meet Tally Hall's punch. Sène tumbled to the ground, but he soon picked up himself up, took the ball and tucked home his fifth goal of the season from the spot to hand the Revs the lead.

Davis made amends for his foul six minutes later by serving up his first assist of the season. New England spent much of the week talking about the Dynamo's proficiency on set pieces, but the Revs did little to prevent Bruin from nodding home his fifth goal of the season before Matt Reis could clear it.

Both sides exchanged opportunities in the early stages of the second half. Once again, however, the Revs struck against the run of play for a second time to grasp the lead.

OPTA Chalkboard: Houston dominate possession

Sène created his second goal with a timely piece of defensive application at midfield. The French forward robbed US defender Geoff Cameron of possession in the middle third and surged down the left side into the Dynamo penalty area. Sène capped off the one-man move by thumping home his second of the night and his sixth of the season past Tally Hall at the near post.

Houston coach Dominic Kinnear threw on all three substitutes as the Dynamo attempted to rescue a point. Those changes ultimately reaped dividends when one of the substitutes secured a draw with three minutes remaining.

Ching and Camargo played a quick one-two on the edge of the Revolution penalty area with the forward clipping the ball over the New England back four into Camargo's path on the left side of the penalty area. The Brazilian midfielder kept his composure and polished off the move with his first MLS goal to give each team a point.
