CARSON, Calif. — Despite reports out of Philadelphia linking Union captain Danny Califf to a potential switch to Chivas USA, Rojiblancos head coach Robin Fraser was quick to dispel the rumors.

On Sunday morning, Union sporting director Diego Gutiérrez and head coach Peter Nowak each made comments linking Califf (above) to a potential move away from PPL Park. Nowak later went a step further, telling the Philadelphia Daily News that the Union had fielded a pair of offers from Chivas USA.
“And I'm surprised that would be reported because that's one of the things that goes on behind the scenes all the time,” Fraser told MLSsoccer.com on Sunday.
Califf, 32, has a history with Fraser, having played with the current Chivas head coach — as well as assistant coach Greg Vanney and midfielder Pete Vagenas — during his time with the LA Galaxy.
So far this season, Heath Pearce and Rauwshan McKenzie have served as the first-choice center backs for Chivas, while Colombian centerback John Alexander Valencia has started the last two matches against the Chicago Fire and San Jose. Chivas have conceded 12 goals in 10 games so far this season.
Although Fraser did not confirm the Califf report, he did admit that the club is always looking for ways upgrade the squad.
"We make inquiries and we field inquiries every day,” Fraser said.
