AMSTERDAM – Molde FK right winger Josh Gatt scored a spectacular opening-night winner on Friday, as the Norwegian champs successfully began their defense of the crown with a 2-1 victory against visiting Strømsgodset.
Mere days after withdrawing from US Olympic camp and just three minutes after the home side grabbed a lead, the Michigan-born speedster backed down the defense to slot Molde's second 20 minutes from time. Collecting just across midfield, Gatt sprinted into the area unopposed before freezing three defenders to net far side.
Besides giving them the first three points of the new season, the victory extended Molde's home unbeaten run in Tippeligaen play to 13 games.
