American Exports: Spector, Brums shoot up to third

Birmingham City's Jonathan Spector

AMSTERDAM — A pair of Americans suited up in England's second flight on Tuesday, with Jonathan Spector and Birmingham City scoring a 3-1 victory at Barnsley.

The US handyman was removed near time, having picked up a second-half yellow card covering right back for injured captain Stephen Carr. The Brums posted their seventh win from a league unbeaten streak now up to 11 games, hopping past four teams to regain third place in the process.

Meanwhile, Danny Potts went unused in West Ham United's 4-1 victory at Blackpool. Despite a Robert Green red card that forced the Irons to play the final 35 minutes with attacker Henri Lansbury in goal, the visitors were able to sail back to the top of the Championship table.
