Gringo Report: Puebla's Beasley in fine preseason form

DaMarcus Beasley

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – DaMarcus Beasley is continuing his fine preseason form for Puebla, assisting on the first goal in the team's 2-1 friendly win over Pumas UNAM on Friday. A veteran of three World Cups, Beasley started for La Franja and centered in the 12th minute for former Liverpool forward Luis García to open the scoring.

Puebla continue their run of preseason friendlies on Dec. 28 against second-division side Neza, when new striker Eddie Johnson could potentially make his first appearance for his new club.

It's more good news for central midfielder José Francisco Torres. The 24-year-old went 70 minutes in Pachuca's 1-1 tie with Atlas. Pachuca play Pumas on Dec. 27, with all signs pointing to Torres being ready for the big kickoff against Herculez Gomez's Santos on Jan. 7.

Orange, Calif., native Michael Orozco Fiscal also started for San Luis in their 0-0 tie with Club León on Friday.

Adrian Ruelas got 17 minutes of game-time for Jaguares in their 2-1 victory over Atlante, and told the club's website of his desire to work as hard as possible in order to make a first-team debut for the club during the upcoming Clausura 2012.
