Richards' agent plays down link to Novara in Serie A

New York's Dane Richards is all smiles after his team's goal vs. Philadelphia

AMSTERDAM — The agent for New York Red Bulls speedster Dane Richards has put the breaks on an Italian report linking Novara with his client but added that some potential English suitors have been calling.

The 27-year-old, who is coming off career-highs of seven goals and seven assists in 27 games this past season, has been the subject of tabloid reports linking him with a move to the Serie A risers.

"I have had no contact with Novara regarding Dane," Richards' rep, Patrick McCabe, told MLSsoccer.com. "Speculation over his future is expected as he is entering the last year of his contract. Several English teams appreciate his pace. We believe things will pick up."

Since being drafted by New York out of Clemson University in 2007, Richards has notched 20 goals and 24 assists in 130 regular season games. The Montego Bay, Jamaica, native has also accrued 35 caps for his country's national team.
