Another game, another win for Maryland, as the Terps extended their record to 5-0 with a rout last Friday in their ACC opener against previously undefeated Boston College. Rising sophomore striker Patrick Mullins (above) paced the home team with a brace at the friendly confines of Ludwig Field.

The Terps, who have outscored opponents 16-2 in five games, head out on the road to face the University of Maryland (Baltimore County) on Tuesday before hosting North Carolina State on Friday.
The victory over BC brings Maryland up to No. 2 in MLSsoccer.com's Top 20 college rankings. Here's a look at how the rest of our ranked teams did this past weekend:
Connecticut kept pace with Maryland with two wins of their own. Traveling to Tulsa, the Huskies picked up a pair of 1-0 victories against the Golden Hurricane and SMU to push their record to 5-0. Mamadou Doudou Diouf and Max Wasserman picked up the goals. UConn's next matchup will come on Friday away to Boston University.
While the Terps and Huskies won, however, surging North Carolina was stymied. A 103rd-minute goal from Virginia Tech dropped the Tar Heels to a 1-0 overtime loss in their ACC opener.
After a surprising 0-0 draw with Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 1, Akron coninued its return to normalcy by rolling past St. Louis 4-0 on the road. Junior midfielder and Revolution Academy product Scott Caldwell had a goal and three assists on the evening. Joining him on the scoreboard were Matt Dagilis, Darren Mattocks and Akeil Barrett.
The Zips host the University of Akron Tournament this weekend, going up against New Mexico and Cal Poly.
UCLA also got things back on track over the weekend as the Bruins won their first games of the season. On Friday, Chandler Hoffman and Kelyn Rowe both tallied to defeat Saint Mary’s 2-1, while Hoffman scored again on Sunday against Loyala Marymount in another 2-1 win.
A stiff test awaits this week for the Bruins as they host UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos have been a team on the rise this year, although were denied a win for the first time this year on Sunday when they drew 0-0 against Villanova.
UC Irvine is also off to a hot start. Paced by the five goals apiece of Enrique Cardenas and Christian Hernandez, the Anteaters have won their first six games of the season and will be looking for a seventh straight win against Florida Gulf Coast on Friday.
