One of MLSsoccer.com’s most popular series is back and better than ever. Just in time for the stretch run to the MLS Cup playoffs.

Beginning on Monday, Sept. 12, MLSsoccer.com will bring you our second annual 24 Under 24 — the ultimate countdown of the 24 best MLS players under the age of 24. Who will succeed Seattle’s Fredy Montero at the top of the list?

With Olympic qualifying right around the corner, the advent of the youth Designated Player rule and a host of young stars entering the league this season, the field of players and the stakes have never been any greater.

The 2011 version of the 24 Under 24 comes with a twist: Fans will be able to vote for their own Top 24 via MLSsoccer.com's Facebook page beginning on Labor Day, Sept. 5.

And in addition to the fan ballot, the most recognized MLS analysts in the country have once again been assembled to form our expert voting panel: Fox Soccer’s Brian Dunseth and Kyle Martino, ESPN.com’s Jeff Carlisle and ESPN’s Taylor Twellman and Alexi Lalas.

Mark your calendars: The 24 Under 24 fan vote kicks off Sept. 5 with the final countdown to No. 1 beginning in earnest on Sept. 12.

Last year's top three in the rankings earned a DP contract, a US national team call-up and MLS Rookie of the Year honors. Who's next?
