American Exports: Michael Bradley set for move to Italy

Michael Bradley celebrates his goal against Mexico in the Gold Cup final

AMSTERDAM — Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Michael Bradley is on the verge of completing a deal to join Serie A side Chievo Verona, MLSsoccer.com has learned.

According to multiple sources, the 24-year-old has already agreed to personal terms with Chievo.

Chievo would not comment on the situation to MLSsoccer.com, while attempts to reach 'Gladbach's press office to confirm the American had left for Italy to close the deal were unsuccessful.

Longtime suitors AS Roma also began enquiring about Bradley and a few other clubs in Germany, Italy and Spain were monitoring the situation to perhaps make a last-minute bid, but the Flying Donkeys apparently named the right price on Sunday night.

Bradley, who worked just two EPL matches during a loan spell at Aston Villa to close last season, has scored 10 times in 76 Bundesliga game since arriving at 'Gladbach on summer transfer deadline day in 2008. Should he complete the move to Italy, he could become only the second US international in the modern era to appear in a Serie A contest, following former Padova defender Alexi Lalas.

Following an 11th-place finish in Serie A last term, Chievo are currently slated to open the strike-delayed season at home against newly promoted Novara on Sunday, Sept. 11.
